Sholarships: 38,000.

Egibility: Indian National students with 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. They should have passed the qualifying exam in the year of award of scholarship. Students who are in full time employment or in receipt of any other scholarship/stipend and students who are studying on part-time basis/ Privately are not eligible.

The Scheme is in operation since 1961-62 to assist brilliant students to pursue an academic career, who may otherwise not do so on ground of poverty. Depending upon the population, these scholarships are allotted among the various states and union territories. Information about number of students appeared and passed in the various exams is supplied by the Registrars of universities/Secretaries of Education Boards in prescribed format by the end of september each year.
